Dr. Ali

Dr. Ferhina S. Ali is a fellowship trained, board certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical disease of the retina and vitreous. With her surgical techniques, she is highly skilled at repairing retinal detachments, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, diabetic tractional detachments, and many other vitreoretinal diseases. Additionally, she is experienced in specialty suturing of intraocular lenses. In the clinic, she specializes in the medical treatment of age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, and diabetic retinopathy. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Women in Ophthalmology, Women in Retina, and the Texas Medical Association.

Ferhina has been involved in public health ophthalmology since medical school, completing a Masters in Public Health as a Sommer Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has completed randomized clinical trials, programmatic research, and performed surgery in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. She is passionate about understanding and overcoming the barriers to high quality, accessible eye care for all, both domestic and abroad. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, Research to Prevent Blindness, the World Diabetes Foundation, and the Himalayan Cataract Project.

In her spare time, Dr. Ali loves to travel and stay active, explore the great outdoors, practice yoga, go on foodie adventures, and spend time with her close friends and family. She strives to provide personal, respectful, and compassionate care for patients while treating their retinal disease.
