Musa Abdelaziz, M.D.

Musa Abdelaziz, MD, joined RCT in October 2020. Dr. Abdelaziz, or Dr. Musa as he is commonly called by his patients, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology. With his surgical expertise, Dr. Abdelaziz is highly skilled at performing the latest surgical techniques to treat uveal melanomas, repair retinal detachments, epiretinal membranes (macular puckers), macular holes, diabetic tractional detachments, and many other vitreoretinal diseases. Dr. Abdelaziz also specializes in the medical treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, uveitis, and all other medical diseases of the retina.

Dr. Abdelaziz grew up in a small village in Palestine before moving to the United States. After finishing high school in South Florida, he graduated from Washington University in St. Louis Magna Cum Laude with a Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry major. He then completed medical school at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Case Western University, where he was appointed as Chief Resident by his peers and his mentors.

During residency, Dr. Abdelaziz won the Exemplary Resident Award, the Top OKAP Award, and the Clinical Research of the Year Award. The American Academy of Ophthalmology also gave him the EyeWiki Award.

Dr. Abdelaziz next completed a surgical retina fellowship at Georgetown University and Retina Group of Washington. He finally completed an ocular oncology fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco.

After completing all his training, Dr. Abdelaziz decided to move closer to family in Texas and joined the Retina Center of Texas. Dr. Abdelaziz has contributed to the field by co-authoring several journal articles, contributing to book chapters, and presenting at national meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, Tarrant County Medical Association, and American Society of Retina Specialists.

On a personal note, Dr. Abdelaziz likes to spend his free time with family, exploring the outdoors, playing soccer, traveling, and cooking.
