Dr. Zia Siddiqui is a board-certified, fellowship-trained vitreoretinal surgeon. He is highly skilled in the latest surgical techniques, including complex retinal detachment repair, macular hole surgery, epretinal membrane (macular pucker) removal, diabetic tractional detachment repair, vitreous hemorrhage treatment, and secondary lens fixation. He also specializes in the medical treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, uveitis, and other diseases of the retina and vitreous.
Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Siddiqui graduated with high honors from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was named a Razorback Classic Graduate, a prestigious award given to the top 22 graduates university wide. He earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency and was appointed as Chief Resident. During residency, he received multiple awards, including the Academic Achievement Award for the top academic and research performance, the Raymond and Mary Morris Award, and the Outstanding Resident in Retina Award.
He completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at The Retina Institute in St. Louis, one of the nation’s leading and highest-volume surgical retina programs. Dr. Siddiqui has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and several textbook chapters. He has presented his research and taught surgical courses at national meetings, including the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has also served as an investigator on numerous clinical trials evaluating new treatments for retinal disease.
Dr. Siddiqui is passionate about global health and has participated in surgical mission work in Central America, as well as years of caring for underserved patients in free clinics throughout Arkansas. On a personal note, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their Maltipoo, Udo. Outside of medicine, he enjoys fishing, hiking, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and playing basketball.
